Obituary for Raymond J. Stasiak
Raymond J. Stasiak 81 of Peru passed away Sunday June 23 at 10:39 PM in OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. A funeral mass will be Friday June 28 at 11 AM at St. Hyacinth Church. The Very Reverend Father Paul Carlson Pastor of La Salle Catholic Parishes will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Hyacinth Cemetery. Full military honors will be presented by the LaSalle/ Oglesby Veteran’s Memorial Group. Visitation will be in church on Friday from 9 AM until the time of services. The Burgess Funeral Home in LaSalle is handling arrangements.
He was born on July 20, 1937 in LaSalle to Michael and Sally (Novitski) Stasiak.
His education consisted of graduating from St. Bede Academy, Illinois Community College, and Illinois State University.
He served his country in the United States Army Reserve from 1960 to 1966
He was an educator for the Amboy Community District from 1964 to 1968. He was employed by the State of Illinois in the Department of Human Services from 1968 until his retirement in January of 1998.
He was a lifelong member of St. Hyacinth Church. A 50-year member of the Calvert Council Knights of Columbus # 792. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Ray had special values in which he incorporated into his daily life. They were: Believe in God, love your country and be close to your family and friends.
He is survived by:
A sister in-law: Darlene (Robert) Stasiak of Peru,
1 nephew: Michael (Araceli) Stasiak of Utica, and 1 great nephew Clifford of Utica.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, and 1 brother (Robert).
His great nephew Clifford is what he loved and valued most in his life.
